Исследован новый класс экономических эффектов, проявляющихся в ухудшении общественного и личного благосостояния рационально действующих субъектов вследствие появления у них дополнительных альтернатив. В силу наличия естественно-научных аналогий и запатентованного устройства на основе подобного физического эффекта ему присвоено имя Николы Теслы. Частные случаи проявления эффектов данного класса нашли отражение в экономике и смежных научных отраслях (парадокс Браеса, парадокс Даунса—Томсона, «голландская болезнь» и др.), однако процессы глобализации и снижение степени наднационального регулирования порождают условия для значительного расширения данной категории. Значимость и масштаб энергетики как области хозяйственной деятельности делают ее интересным объектом для исследования перспектив возникновения эффекта Теслы. Несмотря на стремление многих стран снизить энергетическую зависимость от внешних поставок, топливно-энергетические товары занимают наибольшую долю в мировом товарообороте; активное форсирование альтернативной энергетики может приводить к непредвиденным результатам. На современном этапе развития мировой экономики и энергетики многие страны и международные компании столкнулись с рядом новых вызовов и возможностей. Несмотря на кажущуюся привлекательность ряда альтернативных решений и путей развития национальных энергетических систем, некоторые из них могут быть чреваты возникновением эффекта Теслы в глобальном масштабе.

The article presents an endeavour to distinguish, describe, and research a new class of economic effects, manifistating as deterioration of public and private welfare resulting from arising additional alternatives for rationally behaving economic actors. Due to existence of analogies in natural sciences and a patented invention based on a similar physical effect it is suggested to name this effect after its discoverer — Nikola Tesla. Particular cases of manifestation were reflected in economics and related sciences (Braess paradox, Downs—Thomson paradox, Dutch disease, etc.), however, globalization processes and erosion of supranational regulation provide for proliferation of this category in the foreseeable future. The significance and scale of energetics as a key area of economic activity turns it into an interesting research object in terms of Tesla effect prospects. Despite attempts of many nations to decrease energy dependence on external supplies, mineral fuels are still dominant goods being traded worldwide; while boosting alternative energy can cause unforeseeable outcomes. At a current stage of global economy and energetics development a number of countries have faced a variety of new challenges and opportunities. Although some alternatives and ways of developing national energy system seem to be attractive, some of them can cause Tesla effect on a global scale.
