<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The paper presents contemporary economic discussions about the problems of inequality and the actual circumstances than make it difficult to take into account not only statistical, but also the socio-political conjuncture of wealth and income divergence. The paper concludes that objective and complex analysis of inequality faces methodological problems — such as discrepancies in the tools for measuring inequality or fundamental disregard for interdisciplinary research perspectives, — and also with disregard of the “subjective” component of the inequality perception.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>неравенство</kwd><kwd>экономика неравенства</kwd><kwd>политика неравенства</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>inequality</kwd><kwd>economics of inequality</kwd><kwd>politics of inequality</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">грант Президента Российской Федерации для государственной поддержки молодых российских ученых — кандидатов наук (проект МК-4685.2018.6)</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Авен П.
