В статье анализируется марксистская теория общественного развития с позиций накопленного к настоящему времени опыта. Показывается, что теория исторического развития является наиболее важным компонентом марксизма, дающим ключ к пониманию тенденций исторического процесса, и особенно социально-экономических проблем стран, решающих задачи догоняющего развития. Особое внимание уделяет интерпретации с марксистских позиций современного ренессанса экономического либерализма. Делается вывод о формировании исследовательской методологии, которая может быть охарактеризована как либеральный марксизм.

Marxist concept of social development is analyzed on the basis of the twentieth century experience in the article. Theory of history is considered as the most important component of Marxism which contributes to the understanding of moderns historical trends, and especially the challenges of catching-up development. Authors explain renaissance of economic liberalism through the prism of Marxism and discuss the development of methodological tradition called "liberal Marxism".
